John William Bales, Sr. was born on August 10, 1944 and passed away January 4, 2021 at Wexford House following many health issues. John worked many years at Smith Mechanical Contractors and Moody Sprinkler Company and was a member of Colonial Heights Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Marie Bales; his parents, John Barton and Grace Johnson Bales; his older brother Jack Barton Bales, younger brother Michael Howard Bales; sister Frances Walters and her husband Jim.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Teresa Herron Bales and their children, John William Bales, Jr. (Melinda), Cecil Dean Bales (Christine), Tina Bales Street (Jeff), Traci Elizabeth Bales; son, Gerald “Jerry” Eugene Bales; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and a brother, Pierce Durham (Masako).
Due to the pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
