Patsy Whitaker, age 74, went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2019. She was a life long resident of Blountville. She was a member of Bethel United Baptist Church. Patsy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed summer vacations at the beach, traveling, shopping and listening to gospel music. She was an avid Nascar fan. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lula Mae and Rant Spears and, father James "Jessie" B. Barnes. In addition, to her parents Patsy was preceded in death by her son, David Whitaker.
Left to cherish her memories is her loving husband, Claude whom she has been married to for 58 years. Her son, Terry Whitaker and wife Sherry; daughter, Sarah Spangler and husband John. Patsy was a proud grandmother to Jamie Christian and husband Mark, Chris Whitaker and wife Emily, Jessica Whitaker and fiance' Travis, Zack Spangler and wife Morgan, Adriana Spangler, Kaylee Spangler. Great-grandchildren Reilee Christian, Aiden Christian, Riley Moore, Leland Moore and Leeya Whitaker. As well as her special friend, Susan Reed. Her precious furbabies Sebastian, Alfie and Thomas. Patsy is also survived by her sisters Peggy Skeens and Janice Fannon, and her brother, James "Jimmie" Barnes.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at East Tennessee Funeral Home, 2630 Hwy 75, Blountville, TN 37617, with funeral services to follow in our chapel with Pastors Mike Robinson and Will Lawson officiating. Mrs. Whitaker will be laid to rest Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in the Garden of Devotion at 2:00 p.m. in our cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Brooke Gibson NP, Bristol Hospital 4 West nurses, and Wexford House Nursing Home for their love and care that was shown to Patsy and her family during her illness.
